API Help Page

The nuget package for the API Help page is not compatible with odata controllers. The reason is that is depends on the ApiExplorer class to examine the controller. If you look at the definition for the odataController, you will notice the first decorator is [ApiExplorerSettings(IgnoreApi = true)]. This tells the apiExplorer to ignore it.

You can get an odata controller to show up by marking your individual odata controllers with [ApiExplorerSettings(IgnoreApi = false)], HOWEVER, the URL and syntax will not be correct as it will use the api prefix and syntax. If you are also using the Nuget Test button, this will use the incorrectly generated URL. (caveat - my solution has web api with odata in its own project, not sure if having the api in the same project as the web will make a difference regarding the prefix)

There is some value in it, in that it does display what methods are available, but it sure could use an update by it's original authors to be odata controller aware.

We deleted the original Northwind.Web project and started with a fresh new project with VS 2013 Update 2 (RC), and we selected the Web Api project template and as you know it generates the Help area. This is area is simply residue from the VS Template, and simply put, we forgot to delete this area. We'll do so in the next release, apologize for any inconveniences or confusion this may have caused.

We typically don't even use the Help area to test Web Api, we use Fiddler, Curl and LinqPad (for OData) for testing.
